Truth For
Muslims is bringing a comprehensive, biblical response to Islam in
America.
Our biblical approach means that we focus on
issues of concern to Christians. Our comprehensive approach motivates us
to look carefully at all important issues related to bringing an effective
response to Islam in America from a biblical perspective.
Our
biblical, comprehensive response includes three areas:
• Evangelism
• Apologetics
• Accountability
Evangelism
The problem of Islam is multi-faceted and
complex, but it begins as a spiritual problem, and therefore the only
final solution will be the changing of hearts and minds.
Muslims, like all people without Christ, are living in sin and in spiritual
darkness. They are spiritually “dead” and need Jesus Christ as their Savior.
Only then can they be free from the deception and violence of Islam.
The freedoms we enjoy in America can and should be used to evangelize
Muslims, who are living in virtually every section of the U.S. Every Muslim
community can and should be reached with the gospel.
Although “proselytizing” and the idea of converting people to another
religion are considered politically incorrect in our current culture,
Christians do not have the option to stay silent. God has entrusted us with
the message of truth and He empowers us with the Holy Spirit to make Christ
known.
America is a unique nation in the history of the world. This provides a
unique and important opportunity to reach Muslims from all over the world
right here in our own land.
Muslims are in fact coming to faith in Christ in greater number than any
other time in history. God is doing a miraculous work in our generation, and
there is nothing stopping us from evangelizing Muslims in the United States!
Many resources to enable Christians to bring the gospel effectively to the
Muslims are available in the mother languages of the various Muslim people
groups. These include DVDs, audio recordings, Bibles, tracts, and other
literature.
Truth For Muslims distributes some of these resources, and also provides
training in evangelism.
Apologetics
Islam vehemently denies the core truths of Christianity, beginning with
the person and work of Jesus Christ.
For example, Islam teaches that:
• Jesus is not the Son of God.
• He was not crucified.
• He did not rise from the grave on the third day.
• The Bible is not the Word of God.
Muslim theologians go beyond denial of key Christian doctrine by
developing a system which actively attacks the faith. Christians need to
understand the theological challenges of Islam and be prepared to give
answers.
The word apologetics comes from the Greek α̉πολογία, which is used by
St. Paul in the New Testament. It means “to give a defense, answer, or
counter-argument.” Christians are instructed to “always be ready to give
an answer” to those who ask about our faith.
Apologetics is not only useful for answering the questioners or critics.
An in-depth study of Christian doctrine works to strengthen the
student’s faith in and love for God. The beauty of the Gospel of grace
and the power of the Creeds are made more evident by a comparison
against the often-brutal doctrines and practices of Islam.
Since Islam is designed to undermine and subvert the Christian faith, it
is important to understand and know how to answer the challenge.
Truth For Muslims publishes and distributes several resources for
helping the Church to respond to the theological challenge of Islam and
also presents a number of seminars and classes comparing the teachings
of Islam with the Truth of Christianity.
Accountability
Islam is more than a religion. It is also a
political-cultural-judicial-social-economic system which is diametrically
opposed to the United States Constitution and traditional Western society.
Islam seeks to eventually implement Islamic Sharia law everywhere it goes.
Sharia denies freedom of religion and freedom of speech, foundational
freedoms acknowledged by the First Amendment.
For example, Sharia law imposes the death penalty on Muslims who leave Islam
to become Christians. Islam also denies the free speech rights to express
the opinion that Mohammed is not a prophet of God or to say anything that
could be perceived as dishonoring to him or to Islam.
However, Muslim leaders are making full use of their own First Amendment
rights to promote Islam by building mosques, influencing elected officials,
and engaging in the public forum. They are using American liberty as a
weapon against itself.
They seek to use our tolerance for opposing viewpoints to position Islam as
an acceptable world-view within America, although it is in fact an ideology
which seeks to eventually annul the U.S. Constitution.
Muslim leaders understand the American world-view and are effectively
advancing their cause. They create sympathy toward Islam by veiling their
long-term intentions under the guise of a peaceful and enlightened religion.
Muslim leaders must be held accountable for their statements and actions in
regard to promoting Islam. American political leaders must be held
accountable for upholding the Constitution and fighting Islamic deception
and injustice.
Truth For Muslims is implementing several strategies (such as promoting the
Charter of Muslim Understanding) to bring greater accountability to the
public square.
